Runecraft
Runecraft
In use
The logistics line under every spell that will ever be cast.
What it governs
- Yield rises with the level, and hauling runes needs a pouch — which is Crafting's leather, and which decays.Charter, Part VI — Runecraft and the altar map
- Every spell ever cast sits on this line, so magical wars are won by whoever holds the essence veins.
- The altars are formations — stone the world grew that way. They are found, never built, and the world put no ruins in anyone's path.
- The first rune divides the world's history in two.
- As a system it is deferred into Magic's hidden-recipe economy rather than built as a separate ladder — deferred, which is not the same as undecided.Mechanics §12 — deferred, with owner intent
The order it goes in
The chain. Note the second step: the arcane economy's front door is a sea voyage.
- Essence, mined — and a mystery mineral until somebody understands it.Charter, Part VI — Runecraft and the altar map
- A talisman, carved from tin — which lies beside the altar it opens.
- An altar, found where the world grew one.
- Runes.
Not yet
Everything below the talisman. Its mineral is tin — entry-tier ore, sited near the altars it opens, so the material and its use are found on the same walk. What is missing is the rest of the chain: there is no essence in any seam, no altar anywhere the world has been built, and no citizen has ever recognised that a strange mineral is a strange mineral.
