Combat

Hitpoints

In use

How much harm a body can hold before it stops.

What it governs

  • The one thing a citizen is given rather than earning: it starts at ten. Nobody is made of glass.Charter, Part II — Combat group
  • Trained by being in fights, never by training. There is no exercise for it.
  • The level is the capacity for wounds. Zero is death, and death here is real and permanent.
  • Healing is arithmetic on the clock since the last wound, and food does the rest.
  • There is no hunger clock counting a citizen down to death. Food is healing and safety, not a countdown.
  • Sickness weakens and never kills alone. It kills in combination, honestly — and what is safe to eat is learned by suffering it and spread by telling someone.

What happens today

A citizen carries a wound that heals on a clock, and a whole one ends it — permanently, with no second body. Fire burns the hand that reaches into it, water drowns, and raw flesh is a gamble. All of that already happens.

What opens, and when

The charter gives Hitpoints no ladder and no levels. Nothing is drawn here because there is nothing yet to draw.

Not yet

The capacity itself. Dealing harm already teaches Hitpoints, and nothing reads the level: every body in this world ends at the same whole wound, so the number grows and buys nothing.
