What it governs

  • Harm mitigation.Charter, Part II — Combat group
  • The only one of the three that cannot be practised safely: it trains under genuine threat and nowhere else.
  • Leather armour is Ranged's lane; the charter routes armour tiers through Crafting.

What opens, and when

The charter gives Defence no ladder and no levels. Nothing is drawn here because there is nothing yet to draw.

Not yet

Anything the level changes. Being struck already teaches Defence, and the blow that kills teaches the dead body nothing — but a blow is still evaded on where the light falls and whether there is ground underfoot, facts about the situation rather than about the body. The level's only reader is the experience it prices for the striker.
